I moved to Cardiff about eight months ago, and, since I am a coffee addict, I’ve been on a continuous quest to find the best places to get my caffeine fix.

After many disappointments caused by a bitter espresso shot or burnt milk, a list with places where they serve decent (or even amazing) coffee, is an absolute must.

I’ve rated each place on this map based on six criteria, but this is obviously a subjective assessment and a very restricted list. To give you an idea as to why I’ve chosen these places, I should also say I like my coffee strong, yet rich and velvety. Also, I’m actively trying to avoid chains, so the following names might be completely unfamiliar to you. Trust me though, they’re worth much more than the coffee giants you can find on all street corners.

I’ve also included a few other places where I didn’t necessarily appreciate the coffee (often simply not strong enough for me), but other aspects such as the ambiance, the good working space or the variety of services.

So if you find yourself nearby, it might be worth trying

I’m sure there are still a bunch of cafés left for me to discover so if you think there’s anything missing from this list, give me a shout and I’ll check it.

Until then, please remember that

“ Life's too short for bad coffee! ”
